Another canvas.
Hurrah today is the day I post my skate deck, the first one of hopefully many more that I will paint. But before we get to my artwork let’s start off with someone else’s artwork that I’ve recently discovered on a work trip down to Duluth, MN. The hometown and birthplace of Bob Dylan himself! This down was fantastic and I found a major artistic and musical presence there. I’m really glad that when I made the trip down I also took some time to explore and discover.
Something wonderful came about from exploring. I walked into a really hip shop down in Duluth called “The Electric Fetus“. Mainly a music store providing locals with amazing albums, vinyl records, merch, but also a place to buy handcrafted good, incense, cloths, smoking pieces, and tons more. As I was looking around I stumbled upon an art print that they were selling exclusively. It was commissioned to be made for the store by the artist Adam Turnman. As soon as I saw it I had to have it. An original hand printed posted signed and numbered. His style totally caught my eye, and as soon as I brought the print back to my hotel I jumped on the ol laptop and did some further research.
I was so amazed what I came to find upon visiting his personal website. You honestly have to go look for yourself (click his name above to visit his site). Let’s just say I’m in awe and have been utterly inspired by many of his past works as well.
So happy to have one of his prints framed and ready to be hung up. Best souvenir a girl could ask for!
NOW onward to the unveiling.
I was really fortunate enough to be able to get these 3 skate decks for free. A local acquaintance (Travis) who works at West 49 was able to collect these scrap boards that would have otherwise made it to the trash. I’m so stoked to have not only gotten these decks but put them to good use! So far only one is completed but expect the other two to be completed in time as well! Very happy with the results, painting on skate decks is really fun. Next one I’m going to paint it horizontally.
=) If you ever get an opportunity to paint some decks, even if just for fun.. do it!
A quicky post but a gooder one!
